Within the framework of the CRUCH Meeting of Vice-Chancellors of Research, the Universidad Católica del Norte (UCN) and the network of Universities Vincula, defined as a meeting space between Universities and Congress, invite to a keynote lecture by the outstanding American researcher Dr. Karen Bogenschneider, Professor Emeritus of Human Ecology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and international reference in the link between science and public policy.

The activity will take place on Thursday, April 24 at 11:30 a.m. at the UCN Guayacán Campus, in Coquimbo (Larrondo 1281), and will have a hybrid modality. Those interested may participate via Zoom, prior registration through the link available at the following link: https://forms.gle/4bei7we1EcrJGFh4A

Dr. Bogenschneider led the Family Impact Seminars for 25 years, an innovative series of presentations and discussion sessions that promote the use of nonpartisan scientific evidence in policy decision making. She also directed the Family Impact Institute and has worked with legislatures in more than twenty U.S. states. Her pioneering approach to bridging the gap between social research and government has earned her awards such as the Wiley Prize 2021 and recognition from the Wisconsin Congress.

Dr. Stefan Gelcich Crossley, academic of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, director of the Millennium Institute in Coastal Socio-Ecology (SECOS) and CAPES researcher; Katherine Villarroel Gatica, executive director of the National Council of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation (CTCI); and the deputy for the 5th district, Carolina Tello Rojas, will comment on the presentation. Dr. Pilar Haye Molina, academic of the Department of Marine Biology of the UCN and alternate director of SECOS, moderated the activity.

With this instance, UCN reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the link between scientific research and public decision-making, promoting a culture of evidence that transcends borders.
